We took Ellen to Disney World, for the first time, last week. We had been talking about everything she would see at Disney, so I think she thought we were crazy the first day because we rode the boat to Downtown Disney, rode a couple of rides there, played in the pool at the hotel, spent some time at The Boardwalk in the evening but never saw Mickey or the Princesses. She did love going on the boat and playing in the pool though. The pool was very scary because she thought she could do it all by herself and had absolutely no fear of the water. I think I will have to get her in swim lessons soon.
The second day we finally made it to the Magic Kingdom. There was a singing and dancing celebration with the Disney characters going on right when we got there. Ellen seemed very excited and seemed to know that this was the Disney that we had been talking about.
This balloon was the best thing we bought the whole trip. We tied it to Ellen's stroller and were easily able to find her stroller amidst the sea of strollers waiting outside each ride. I think she was the only one with a YELLOW Mickey balloon in the park.
It rained in the evening, but the rain was so much better than the scorching heat!
Ellen found a little water park in the Winnie the Pooh area to cool off in. She would have stayed in this area all day. There was also a slide and a playhouse and things to climb on.
Armed with her autograph book, pen and Minnie hat, Ellen was off to meet her favorite Disney characters.
First stop--the Princesses. Ellen was so excited and we have discovered that when she REALLY likes something, she gets very serious. As you can see, she really liked Princess Aurora.
Hugging Cinderella.
And Belle.
Pocahantas was at Animal Kingdom were there are many more characters with much shorter lines. In fact, Minnie and Goofy were waiting for Ellen.
Goofy seemed to be Ellen's favorite for some reason. She just hugged and hugged him and didn't want to let go.
For some reason, Ellen would not go to Donald on her own. She talked about him a lot and was very excited to see him in the parade, but she didn't want to hug him.
Ellen loved the rides. The hardest thing was getting her off the rides. She just wanted to keep going forever. She finally realized that when we got off one ride, we would go on another one. That made her much happier and she was even pretty patient waiting in lines. We tried to avoid the really long lines though and used as many Fast Passes as possible.
